One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime. Each year, more than 60,000 new cases are diagnosed, 1% of which are in men. In 2012, at the initiative of Estée Lauder Companies France and in partnership with the Ruban Rose Association, a major photography competition was launched in honor of Evelyn H. Lauder. 

As a co-creator in 1992 of the Pink Ribbon—which has become a global symbol of the fight against breast cancer—and a co-founder of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, she was one of the leading international figures in this cause. 

Open to all photographers and a pioneer in its field, here, photography serves as a tool to mobilize and raise public awareness about the fight against breast cancer. 

In 2026, for its 15th edition, the Award is evolving: it is changing its name to the PINK RIBBON PHOTO AWARD by ESTÉE LAUDER COMPANIES, increasing its prize money, and expanding to an international audience. The award’s mission is to encourage early detection of breast cancer, advance research, and convey a message of hope. Images that encourage open dialogue. Images, too, that inspire action. 15 years of the Photo Award, 15 years of struggle, 15 years of solidarity.
