Elles x Paris Photo
A program dedicated to women photographers, supported by the French Ministry of Culture
Curator Aldeide Delgado has been invited to create the Elles × Paris Photo path dedicated to women artists, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture. Since it was created in 2018, Elles x Paris Photo programme has increased the representation of women artists at the fair from 20% to 39%.
Aldeide Delgado is an art historian, curator, and founder of WOPHA (Women Photographers International Archive), an institution dedicated to highlighting the contributions of women and non-binary artists to the history of photography.

About
Elles × Paris Photo Founded in 2018 in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the Elles × Paris Photo program highlights the creation of women photographers and their role in the history of the image and its current trends. For its 2025 edition, it explores the complex relationship between the figure, often female, and the setting in which it is photographed, sometimes enveloping and sometimes consuming it. These interactions between body and context are never neutral: they reveal plural ways of inhabiting the world, of occupying space, of asserting a presence or, on the contrary, of erasing it.
Through this selection of works, a reflection on visibility, identity, and memory emerges. Some images depict drowsy figures, dreaming or with their eyes closed, suspended between interiority and appearance. They remind us that the photographic image is never unequivocal: it is made up of strata — visible or invisible, material or mental — that are superimposed and replayed with each glance. Because to see is also to project: our desires, our lacks, our memories, and our knowledge are intertwined in the very act of perceiving, constantly redefining what the image gives us to see.
Since 2018, this program has led to a significant increase in the representation of women artists at the Fair from 20% to 39%. Specified on the printed map distributed at the entrance of the Fair and available online, the program offers a specific focus of the Fair to the visitors. It is enriched throughout the year with a series of audiovisual and written interviews released on the Paris Photo website, social networks, and YouTube channel.
Aldeide Delgado,
Elles × Paris Photo 2026 curator
Aldeide Delgado is a Cuban-born, Miami-based Latinx art historian and curator, and Founder & Director of the Women Photographers International Archive (WOPHA), an emerging institution dedicated to reshaping the histories and futures of photography by advancing the work of women and non-binary photographers.
Delgado is a leading voice in the field, with keynotes, lectures, and public programs presented at institutions including Tate Modern, Palais de Tokyo, Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), the Clark Art Institute, and the University of Miami. Through exhibitions, publications, and international collaborations, her work mobilizes feminist and decolonial methodologies to expand the photographic canon.
She is the visionary behind the WOPHA Congress, the first global convening of feminist photography collectives and organizations, which has brought together nearly 100 leading artists, curators, and scholars and welcomed more than 2,000 attendees across its first two editions at PAMM and cultural institutions throughout South Florida.
Delgado is the author of Becoming Sisters: Women Photography Collectives & Organizations (2021) and the creator of the Catalog of Cuban Women Photographers, the first comprehensive survey of women's contributions to Cuban photography from the nineteenth century to the present. In 2025, she founded the Caribbean Photography Research Group, an international network advancing scholarship and dialogue on photography from the Caribbean and its diasporas.
Her work has been recognized with support from the Mellon Foundation, Pérez Family Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, Green Family Foundation, the Knight Arts Challenge, the Ellies Creator Award, and fellowships from SAPS–La Tallera and TEOR/éTica.
Delgado currently serves on advisory boards and committees at Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum, the Lucie Foundation, the Feminist Art Coalition, and Fast Forward: Women in Photography.
