About
What does it mean to belong? And how does it feel to long for a place, a community, a family, or a sense of self? Bringing together works from different generations, regions, and photographic approaches, the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation presents recent and earlier acquisitions from their collection of contemporary photography that explore the complex relationship between identity, home, memory, and attachment.
Including works by Olgac Bozalp, Sabiha Cimen, Santu Mofokeng, Mame-Diarra Niang, Gordon Parks, Joseph Rodriguez, Jamel Shabazz, Aaryan Sinha, Tokuko Ushioda and Tom Wood, this presentation invites us to consider belonging as both a shared human desire and a deeply personal experience: a state of being and a condition of longing.

The Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, dedicated to collecting, exhibiting and promoting contemporary photography. It is responsible for developing and presenting the Art Collection Deutsche Börse, which now comprises more than 2,400 photographic works by around 180 artists from over 40 countries. In its space in Eschborn near Frankfurt am Main, the Foundation presents several exhibitions to public audiences each year. Furthermore, the institution supports emerging artists through awards, scholarships and the talent programme of the Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam Foam. Together with the Photographers' Gallery in London, it awards the renowned Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize every year. The Foundation also supports exhibition projects by international museums and institutions and fosters academic dialogue on photography and curatorial practice.
