Contemporary photographic images can be analog or digital. The creation of an analog image is based on the darkening of certain photosensitive compounds (silver or non-silver) applied to a surface. The resulting image can be negative or positive. Prints can be obtained either by “printing-out” processes, in which the image appears during exposure to light, or by “developing-out” processes, in which a latent image is formed during exposure and developed later.
