LOKAL_30

Since 2006 lokal_30 has provided a venue for shows, meetings and performances, promoting artists of all generations and consolidating their status on the international scene, focusing mostly on women artists. Since 2009 to 2010 lokal_30 operated in East London as a temporary branch of the Warsaw-based gallery, offering a platform of active artistic exchange. Our important activities are also film and video production, the research and book publishing, focused on the artists of older generations f. ex. on a legend of Polish neoavangarde: "Natalia LL Doing Gender" (2014), performer "Ewa Zarzycka. Hidays" (2016) and surrealist painter: "Maria Anto" (2018). Parallely lokal_30 is working on “the active archive”, editing the books about younger and mid-age generation of the artists, such as: painter: "Ewa Juszkiewicz. The Descent Beckons" (2015), one of the most important Polish sculptors: "Zuzanna Janin. White She-Raven" (2016), the filmmaker: "Karolina Breguła. I Don't Cry Over Sculptures" (2017) and the author of painterly installations: "Jan Mioduszewski Furniture Factory" (2014). We also publishing the general books about Polish art, like "Escape from the Liberty Cinema" (2017) and "LOKAL. History of lokal_30" (2015). lokal_30 is also involved in the organisation of Feminist Seminar - the discussion group devoted to art and feminism. Since our beginnings we are cooperating with many art institutions, where we are organising the exhibitions, conferences and with whom we are cooperating while publishing the books. Among them are: CACT Thessaloniki, Contemporary Museum in Wroclaw, Zacheta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, CCA in Warsaw, MoMA Warsaw. lokal_30 is one of the galleries associated within Warsaw Gallery Weekend – the initiative, which is transforming Warsaw into a significant European centre of modern art. In Autumn 2018 we will open the exhibition "Prêt-à-porter" presenting the works of women-artists interested in the relations between cloth and art.
