I'm Sofia Sanchez and I was borned and raised in Mexico City in 2002. I pursued a photography bachelor in Toulouse from 2020 to 2022. In 2025, I joined Beaux-Arts de Paris to continue my photography and general artistic practice. In my photography, I create intimate portraits of friends and acquaintances, capturing them in candid moments, and in this case, at home. There is a will to share a sense of femininity and comfort of each subject, tracing fragile lines between safety and exposure.
The project
My ongoing series “a certain someone,” captures love on an intimate form: Gen Z couples building their homes in Paris. Here, heterosexuality and queerness, closeness and distance, and nationalities intersect in the same space coexist. Each home is a living archive of everyday affection. I show commitment not as a romantic ideal of the past century, but as a daily practice: choosing the other despite uncertainty, migration, screens, and asynchronous time. It is avant-garde because it documents what is to come: affections, multiple identities, and bonds that defy borders.
