Raquel Luna (Membrilla, Ciudad Real, 2000) is a photographer and visual artist. Her practice focuses on the intersection of documentary and fashion photography, exploring questions of identity, femininity, and the connections between tradition and contemporary surroundings. She approaches the image as a means of study and positioning, using context and staging as key elements of her process.
The project
We grew up watching our mothers marry, settle, and build their lives around a single path.
Our generation lives in the in-between: free to choose, yet shaped by everything we were handed. Nothing resolved, nothing quite closed, just the quiet negotiation between who they were and who we are becoming.
In these portraits, we wear our mothers’ wedding dresses, not as a destiny, but as a question we are still learning to answer.
"Daughters of the Azuer" was made in Membrilla, our village, where the river runs dry but its absence never leaves.
