David Nils Müller (*2002) is a photographer and visual artist. Since 2022, he has been studying photography (BA) at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences. In his photographic and installative works, he engages with social and media-related questions – with a particular interest in the power of images, cultural identity, and consumption.
His artistic approach combines analysis and staging with a reflected engagement with the conditions and possibilities of the image itself.
The project
SÖHNE (engl. SONS) examines the fluid transitions between staged self-presentation and authenticity in male identity. A conflict that can also be found in photography: the question of authentic representation. David Nils Müller's motifs in the work are permeated by stereotypes, social codes, and metaphors. Through his photographic influence, he amplifies the tension between image and its interpretation.
