For the third year running, the City of Paris is taking part in Paris Photo, and will be presenting the main activities of its photographic conservation-restoration department at its educational stand.
ARCP preserves and restores the photographic heritage of the City of Paris, comprising over 16 million photographs held in museums, specialized libraries, and archives. Members of the ARCP team will be on hand to explain their special skills to the public, including handling a digital microscope. Meetings with restorers will also be organized to discuss historical photographic processes. This year, the theme of the negative will be in the spotlight, with different examples (on glass and plastic supports), accompanied by their positive versions. Drawn from the collections of the Bibliothèque Historique de la Ville de Paris, these negatives, sometimes altered, have benefited from conservation-restoration treatments.
Finally, a selection of acquisitions by students taking part in the Jeunes Collectionneurs program of the Fond d'art contemporain - Paris Collections will also be on display.
