PHOTOBOOK AWARDS 2017 : THE SHORTLIST
ANNOUNCING THE SHORT LIST FOR THE 2017 PARIS PHOTO–APERTURE FOUNDATION PHOTOBOOK AWARDS
New York, September 22, 2017
This year’s shortlist selection was made by Christoph Wiesner (Artistic Director, Paris Photo), Lesley A. Martin (Creative Director of the Aperture Foundation book program and of The PhotoBook Review), Gregory Halpern’s ZZYZX (who won the Paris Photo–Aperture Foundation PhotoBook of the Year Award in 2016), Joel Smith (the Richard L. Menschel Curator of Photography at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York) and Kathy Ryan (the longtime director of photography at the New York Times Magazine).
The winners are to be announced at Paris Photo on November 10, 2017. The thirty-five selected photobooks will be profiled in The PhotoBook Review, issue 013.
Initiated in November 2012 by Aperture Foundation and Paris Photo, the Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards celebrate the photobook’s contribution to the evolving narrative of photography, with three major categories: First PhotoBook, PhotoBook of the Year, and Photography Catalogue of the Year.
