G...Galerie Templon celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2016. A pioneering force for contemporary art in Paris, the gallery played a pivotal part in opening the French art scene to international artists. Galerie Templon’s history, encompassing over 500 exhibitions and almost 300 artists, mirrors half a century of contemporary art. The gallery, renowned for introducing the French public to leading American artists such as Judd, Warhol, Basquiat and Haring, has always attached great importance to showing the work of photographers. It was the first gallery to exhibit Helmut Newton’s work in 1981. Other famous artists have also presented their work at the Rue Beaubourg space: William Eggleston, Robert Mappelthorpe, Ed Ruscha, Hiroshi SugimotoMore
