Baptiste Rabichon, laureate of the 2017 BMW Residency
Baptiste Rabichon is named the seventh laureate of the BMW Residency since its creation in 2011. He will be hosted in residence from September 2017 at GOBELINS, school of the Image, under the artistic direction of François Cheval.
Born in 1987, Baptiste Rabichon lives and works between Paris and Tourcoing. After a training in oenology, he returned to the ENSA Dijon, followed by the ENSBA Lyon, and finally Paris where he followed the workshops of Claude Closky and Patrick Tosani. In 2015, he joined Le Fresnoy school.
A selection of his work will be showcased at Paris Photo in November, alongside the exhibition of Dune Varela, laureate of the 2016 BMW Residency.
The BMW Residency jury is composed of: Christoph Wiesner, artistic director of Paris Photo, Nathalie Berriat, director of GOBELINS, François Cheval, artistic director of the BMW Residency, Hervé Digne, collector, Chantal Nedjib, Image, Sam Stourdzé, director of the Rencontres d'Arles, and Maryse Bataillard, Head of Cultural engagement BMW Group France.
The laureate was selected by the jury according to the relevance and quality of their work. Baptiste Rabichon photographic practice gives new sense to the idea of content-rich material. His work is an ensemble of sensations and impressions.
