Gallery Luisotti was founded in 1994 by Theresa Luisotti as a platform for affirming conceptual and landscape photography made during and after the 1960s as vital to the discourse and history of contemporary art. A driving thesis of the gallery is the 1975 exhibition "New Topographics: Photographs of a Man-Altered Landscape," which was at George Eastman House. Since its founding, the gallery has presented exhibitions that thread together simultaneous photographic aesthetic developments in Europe, particularly Germany, and the Americas, specifically the American West. The gallery's roster of artists is marked by an openness to new developments in contemporary photography, whether it is an awareness of issues relating to gender and race, or rigorous studio practices or proliferation of the post-modern narrative photograph.
