Disco and Disco spirit are at the core of the exhibition at Flatland Gallery in Amsterdam. The exhibition explores and deciphers disco’s legacy in contemporary art. Selected are works (primarily, but not exclusively photographs) that epitomise the eccentricity of Disco. This may apply to just magic moments from a decade of disco eclecticism, the movement in music that integrated the legacy of minimalism that put lyrics first with the blurring of art and kick drums. Often magic in outlook, the selection of works ranges from show birds to old ladies, to the world of chemistry and psychedelic moods to the elusive photographic works of escaping a claustrophobic interior.

Featuring: Jeroen Allart, Hans van Bentem, Anuschka Blommers & Niels Schumm, Eelco Brand, Andrew Bush, Marnix Goossens, Pieter Henket, Damien Hirst, Mustafa Hulusi, Ina Jang, Jeff Koons, Danielle Kwaaitaal, Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Sam Taylor-Wood, The Sanchez Brothers, Jaap Scheeren and Cornelie Tollens
